XS is D’Addario’s longest-lasting acoustic string, protected by an ultra-thin film coating (about one-tenth the thickness of a human hair) applied to every wound string, plus a separate polymer treatment on the plain steels—giving it the corrosion resistance of a coated string without the muffled, plastic-y feel some coated strings have. A NY Steel hex core and D’Addario’s Fusion Twist construction add real break strength and tuning stability on top of the extended life.
